MarChica

MarChica is hands down one of the best sushi restaurants in Mallorca. Located around the corner from Porto Pi, it’s a cosy environment with outdoor seating on the upstairs terrace. The staff are legends and always happy to help. We love the edamame with it’s kimchee dip sauce and you can take your pick from the selection of sushi rolls, they’re all amazing.

Restaurant Harajuku, Mallorca

Harajuku

Harajuku is a no-nonsense sushi restaurant in Palma that delivers on authenticity and taste. What it can’t match MarChica for in appearances, it makes up for in the quality of food. They do everything well on their menu. It’s also really good value for money in comparison to the competition.

RIKITO

Sister restaurant of Mr Xiao, Rikito really understands good and simple Italian food. Combine a salad with a pizza or try one their excellent pastas. You won’t be disappointed. Rikito has a fun and relaxed atmosphere, it’s a go-to pick for us when meeting a group of friends for dinner in Santa Catalina.

Giromatto

Giromatto is another Italian offering in Santa Catalina that you need to check out. It has a classic Italian menu of starters, pastas and deserts. The interior makes you feel like you’ve just walked into an authentic eatery in the back streets of Rome. We love places that mix simplicity with authenticity and Giromatto ticks all the boxes.

Singular Rooftop at Sant Francesc Hotel

The Sant Francesc Hotel itself is worth a visit but the rooftop is its crown jewel. Exclusive to guests during daytime, but in summer nights everyone is welcome. It’s in the heart of Palma and has an exclusive feel to it as it’s a little off the beaten tourist path and lesser know than some of the other rooftops in Palma.

Antigua Rooftop Bar

Antigua Rooftop

We stayed at Antigua this past winter and learnt about their amazing and relatively unknown terrace rooftop bar. It’s another hotel set in the heart of Palma and they open their rooftop to guests as well as non-guests. It’s top of our list to get back to in the warmer months.

Rib Club, Perfect Charter, Bonnie Lass Charters & Ocean Charter Mallorca are where we recommend you start your research.

Beaches

We are spoiled for choice when it comes to beaches in Mallorca. After putting in endless research and exploring every nook and cranny across the island, we’ve nailed down some of our favourites below. If you want to discover even more beaches we recommend, here’s a list of 40.

Cala s'Almunia

Cala s'Almunia

Cala s’Almunia is one of the hotspots of the east coast for good reason. The photos tell the story. Absolutely breathtaking and worth the 15 minute walk from the car park options. Great cliff jumps also for those inclined to get a little adventurous.

Caló Des Moro

Simply stunning from a photography point of view. There's not a lot of room to place towels down but it's 100% worth the trek just to take in the breathtaking views. Caló Des Moro lies just around the headland from Cala s’Almunia, so you can take in both beaches in the one visit.

Cala Llombards

Cala Llombards

One of our top picks on the entire island. It's got pretty much everything. White sand, perfect, clear turquoise waters. Jumping off spots, a small bar and restaurant. Car parking. Simply one of the best and a place we keep coming back to.

Cala Mesquida

Long and sandy beach in the north east of the island set upon a backdrop of pine trees and sand dunes. There is plenty of room, plenty of car park space and you’ll even find waves here. Surfboards are available for rent.

Platja De Formentor

Platja de Formentor

A truly unique and stunning beach in the far north west corner of the island. The drive down is spectacular and the beach set amongst the pine trees is a favourite of many. It almost gets too busy in the peak of summer and traffic needs to be monitored along the tight roads up and down the cap.

Cala Cap Falco

Cala Cap Falco

Cap Falco is a superb little narrow cove where you can park yourself on the small sandy beach or grab a spot out on the cliffs. The water is stunning and the restaurant is top notch also. Easy to park and a real paradise just around the corner from Magaluf.

Cala Comtesa

Another of our most visited spots due to its proximity to Palma. This means it can also get crowded but you’ll easily find a spot if you arrive early. The small sandy cove is popular but you also have further seating and entry points to the sea heading along the past to the west. Rent sun beds for 15 €.

Sant Elm

Another long time favourite for us that holds many great memories. Situated in the very far south west corner of the island. It's a beautiful village with a sandy beach and plenty of rock formations to discover further along the coast. Many great bars and restaurants to make a day out of it.

Beach Clubs

Mallorca has some great beach clubs. They’re the perfect option for when you want to spend a full day at the beach during those hot summer days. No doubt a more luxurious way to hit the beach, they often come with a hefty minimum spend but sometimes it’s just worth it to indulge. Here’s our faves for 2024. You can also read about our list of 19 beach clubs here.

UM Beach House

UM Beach House

Great venue in Portals with stunning sea views and top staff in a chilled environment full of relaxing vibes. This is one of the pricier options in Mallorca but you do get what you pay for with distinct luxury vibes and a nice crowd for people watching.

Assaona

Assaona has become a heavy hitter on Mallorca’s beach club scene and is a key reason for the revitalisation of Portixol, to the east of Palma. They’ve created a really modern beach club where every detail has been considered to provide a fun day by the ocean, yet still being within walking distance of central Palma.

Gran Folies

In an area overlooking the crystal clear waters of Cala Llamp, you'll find Beach Club Gran Folies, one of the oldest in Mallorca. It’s more of a chilled vibe and close to Port Andratx in a really beautiful corner of the island.

Cotton Club Mallorca

Sister club of the original in Ibiza. You can expect high prices and a buzzing atmosphere in this Costa de la Calma spot. If you make a whole day of it the minimum spend isn’t that unreasonable and it’s a beautiful environment to enjoy the Mallorcan summer.

Puro Beach Illetas

Situated in the popular resort area of Illetas, with direct access to the sea. There are many unique sun bed spaces all facing the Mediterranean. It gets busy so be sure to book in advance. Also a little pricey but another place where you can expect good service for a full day out.
